well, it's been five years here on deviantart. I've met a lot of cool people [and still keep in touch with many of them!], seen a lot of angst and dArama [I was a part of the $spyed versus °jark controversy, albeit a small one], and have tried my hand at more art mediums than I could shake a stick at, and I think it's time for a change

now, everyone writes at least one of these in their time here, and I assure you, this isn't a goodbye note or anything -- far from it, in fact. I've decided that of all the mediums I've experimented with over the past five years, experimental photography is the one I am choosing to pursue. I've been working on a new account for the past week and have a substantial amount of work up already, so I'm not just announcing this after starting cold

behold, ~seninleyim!

all of my work now has a creative commons license on it, so while I'm not taking stock photography, I don't mind people using my work as long as I'm credited [and told about it, preferably]

in lieu of this, I will not be posting anything more to ~LiraelGoldenhand and will slowly phase this account out. I'm not taking down any of my old work, since I feel that all 200-someodd deviations in my gallery are representative of the past five years of my life to some extent and I'm a very nostalgic person. I'll check my messages and stuff every month or so, but really, there are other more efficient ways to contact me, so use them ;] until then... hoşçakal, everyone, and don't forget to add my new account if you're interested in continuing to follow my work!

it is not a particularly good day for journal entries, since today has kind of blown massively, but that's fine. it's actually given me a good chance to try and catch up with my life for once, rather than just being caught up in everything else [academics and such]. trying to get my life under control is a lot more taxing than schoolwork

next semester I am taking 17 credit hours of coursework -- intermediate arabic I, beginning turkish I, middle east rituals and traditions, maths for liberal arts majors, and general chemistry/lab. and I thought this semester was hectic. next semester's gonna be terribad, but at least I have a scholarship that's gonna pay the tuition

in less-pleasant news, the housing department decided to reassign me to the same godforsaken funkbucket [I like that phrase] that I had this year, so within minutes of getting the assignment email I filled out a reassignment form for the apartments across campus because there's no way I'm going to live in the exact same room [the exact same room] for another year

I hope tomorrow will be better than today was. currently I am at the campus starbucks where I was studying for computer fluency [which is a complete joke, and thus, why I stopped] and am keeping some of my friends company. it's due to rain through thursday, which is kind of depressing, but the weather was very fitting for the amount of suck there was today. tomorrow should be better. tonight, even, since I'm hanging out with good friends [for once] and having good conversation :]

all in all, my spring holiday was a success. I managed to have some good times with my parents, and while I didn't get to see as many friends as I'd hoped [since they are all still in high school or their universities let out for the holiday at different times], I did get to see my boyfriend -- twice

even though I won't see him until may, I still can't help but smile. we made up for lost time, for the times where we couldn't see each other, or if we could, we could only look at each other and smile with our eyes. the last time we were together could barely even touch hands -- that was agony. his father is such a jerk. but this spring break I have learned how to do something that I don't think I have really ever done with anyone outside three or four of the people I have ever known in my life so far

I have learned how to trust, and it is a precious feeling

but anyway, come may I will hopefully have a job lined up, classes will all have been in order, my grades will be in and my gpa will be back up where it should be. I have to start packing, since I technically have to be awake at 03 or 04 in order to leave for the bus station at 05 and sit around for an hour waiting for the bus to leave at 06:25

I should be getting back to uni around 17, which means 11hr of travel, which means as soon as I get back to my dorm it's food, a shower, and a good long sleep for me. hopefully I'll actually make it back on schedule this time around

I haven't even left yet and I miss my home already :heart:

so I've become reattached to being home again. it's only to be expected, really -- it is, after all, where I've lived and loved for the majority of the past eighteen and a half years

I've been keeping my own journal in a moleskeine I've had since the eleventh grade. there's some really whacked out stuff in there, which only goes to show the progression and evolution of the workings of my mind. lately I've been using it when I sit and have coffee and time to contemplate things, or when there's something I feel I need to write down regarding languages

nearly two full pages on turkish words and phrases alone :heart:

there was also an entry on 28th february that took the form of a brief [and by 'brief' I mean five lines] letter I wrote to the guy I'm in love with, but will have to spend the majority of the next few years away from. uni is a wonderful place, but I really do tire of it sometimes

in other news, the dentist appointment went alright. I have to find an oral surgeon for my wisdom teeth sometime after I'm back from uni for the summer -- late april/early may or so. furthermore, watchmen rocked my socks, and everyone whether you've read the comic or not should go see it. if you've read the comic, beware of glowing blue wang, and also the exact frames they took from the comic will take your breath away. if you have not read the comic, beware of glowing blue wang, and enjoy superheros being something they are not often depicted as being -- human

home is as every bit as wonderful and as relaxing as I'd hoped, especially after the hellish trip back down from uni. we left at 17 sharp on friday and almost immediately were bombarded by construction/accident traffic along the i-10. after 2hr we had gone the 30mi it took to clear all the traffic and were on our way again -- until the turnpike

oh god the turnpike

we counted six accidents in total on the way down, and by the time were were due to have arrived back at home [about midnight] we were waiting in line at a burger king at the canoe creek service plaza because the burger king at the turkey lake service plaza had closed, and mum didn't want to deal with starbucks. besides, coffee and a pastry really wasn't the kind of food we were looking for. so we dealt with fast food instead [the chicken fries are crazy!] and in the end, wound up getting back home at about 04 on saturday

<gnarly>
it was about 05:45 when I discovered that, along with beef, my poor abused liver doesn't like fast food either, and I spent about half an hour in the bathroom trying to be sick so I could get some sleep
</gnarly>

that's really been the worst of what's happened so far. I have to go to bed now, though, so that tomorrow I can wake up bright and early and have enough time to get some coursework and a few other things taken care of before I go to the dentist to have my teeth cleaned and x-rayed -- the epitome of fun, I know
